Plumbing, Well & HVAC Service in Matthews, IN

Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling

Matthews is down in the southeast corner of Grant County on the Mississinewa River. From our shop at 614 E 4th St in Marion it’s about 27 minutes, so we’ll be honest about arrival times when you call. Summers has been serving Matthews since 1969, both homes in town on the town’s water and sewer and farmhouses out in Jefferson Township on their own well.

Phones are answered 24/7 at (765) 664-4328.

Honest Arrival Times

Matthews is a longer drive than most of our calls, so we’ll give you a real window, not a guess. When it’s an emergency, we’ll tell you how fast we can get there.

In Town or Out on a Well

We work on town water and sewer connections and on private wells, pressure tanks and septic systems. It’s the same company for both sides of the property.

Checked, Licensed Techs

Every Summers tech is drug tested and background checked. You’ll get the price before any work starts.

Well Pumps and Pressure Tanks

If the pressure swings up and down, the pump clicks on and off every few seconds, or the water quit altogether, start with the tank and the pressure switch. We handle well pump repair and pressure tank replacement, and we drill new wells in-house if yours is done.

Furnaces and ACs Getting On in Years

The typical house in Matthews was built around 1960, and many have had the same furnace or AC for 15 or 20 years. When repairs keep coming, we’ll lay out AC replacement and furnace options side by side and let you decide.

Water Heaters That Leak or Run Out

Hard groundwater builds sediment in the tank, so you get less hot water and more noise. When it starts leaking from the bottom, it’s done. We do water heater installation and haul the old tank away.

Matthews, the Covered Bridge Town

Matthews was founded in 1895 in the middle of the Trenton Gas Field. Its backers hoped it might become the state capital, which is why Main Street is so wide for a town its size. The Cumberland Covered Bridge, built in 1877 and the only covered bridge left in Grant County, crosses the Mississinewa there. It washed half a mile downstream in the 1913 flood and was hauled back by horses. The Town of Matthews runs its own water and sewer utilities. Outside town, homes are typically on a private well and a septic system. If that’s you, ask about well maintenance before summer. Call (765) 664-4328 or book online.

Matthews Service Questions

Do you go as far as Matthews?

Yes. Matthews and the rest of Jefferson Township are in our Marion service area. It’s about a 27-minute drive from our shop, so we’ll give you an honest arrival window when you call (765) 664-4328. Phones are answered 24/7, and for emergencies like a dead well pump or no heat we’ll work to get there the same day.

We’re outside town on a well. Do you work on well systems?

Yes. We repair and replace submersible well pumps, pressure tanks and pressure switches, sanitize wells after a bad water test and drill new wells in-house. If your water pressure is dropping or the pump runs nonstop, shut the breaker off to protect the pump and call us. We’ll find out whether it’s the pump, the tank or the line.

Sewage is backing up in my Matthews house. Do I call the town or a plumber?

If the neighbors are having the same problem, call the town first, because the issue may be in the main. If it’s only your house, the blockage is usually in your own line between the house and the street, and that’s a plumber’s job. We can clear it and run a camera to see what caused it.
